Correcting Venezuela coverage: Press Association misleadingly describes Chavez - Livingstone oil deal
By Aleksander Boyd
26.02.08 | In the article "Cheap oil plan for Scotland?" The Press Association argues that Venezuela "provides subsidised fuel for London buses."
That is inaccurate for, as a matter of fact, Venezuela does not provide subsidised fuel for London bus fleet, but rather pays in cash 20% of the diesel expense incurred by subcontractors of Transport for London (up to a yearly amount not exceeding $32 million), as explained by parties to the agreement when requested to expand on the characteristics of the deal by London Assemblymen.
