Ecuador does not rule out Chavez's implication in riots

London 23.03.06 | "The government of Ecuador stressed its claims about "foreign infiltration" in the indigenous rebellion against FTAA negotiations with the USA, and did not rule out the implication that the President of Venezuela Hugo Chavez could have," reported yesterday Ecuador's El Universo daily.
Enrique Proaņo, Ecuador's Information Secretary, declared that the possibility of Chavez being involved in the riots does exist, due to requests for funding made to the Venezuelan strongman by certain candidates participating in coming presidential elections in October.
Proaņo also stated that photographs have revealed that individuals of Basque origin took part in the rebellion.
