Identifying Misinformation about Venezuela
By Aleksander Boyd
London 16.02.06 | It is a small feat, but feat nonetheless. Do readers remember Hugo Chavez's rants about the US having worked out a plan to invade Venezuela? Hard not to, since he repeats it every time he gets in front of a microphone. Fortunately the rebuting of such fallacious plan was done by many in Venezuela. Former Venezuelan diplomat Adolfo Taylhardat reported a while ago that the plan, code-named "Plan Balboa," was nothing but a routine Spanish military exercise conducted by Spain’s Higher School of the Armed Forces from May 3-18, 2001. The interesting bit is that the International Information Programs of the US State Department did pick up on the article posted in this site, which means, I guess for some, that this site is worthy of a modicum of trust. The question is, can Chavez's sponsored media, and associated sycophants, claim likewise?
