Words and Deeds in Venezuela [part II]
By Aleksander Boyd
London 29.01.05 | Birds of a feather? Anyway I was half way through a detailed debunking of Senator Chris Dodd latest 'appraisal' of the Venezuelan situation, which by the way seem to have been written by the Venezuelan Information Office teenage activists or the spin doctors at Patton Boggs, when inspiration came.
I won't dwell in the peculiar understanding of democracy that Senator Dodd has. However it strikes me that he too is a lawyer?? and has devoted the most part of his working life to bring "...much-needed attention to children’s issues" and being an 'expert' in Latin America, he seeks to "...to foster peace, prosperity and democracy abroad". My only message, as a Latino, to Dodd is this:
LEAVE YOUR FOSTERING PEACE, PROSPERITY AND DEMOCRACY WITHIN THE TERRITORIAL CONFINES OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. SHOULD YOU FEEL THE URGE TO ENGAGE IN SUCH NOBLE ACTIVITIES, MAY I RECOMMEND THE CARTER CENTER AS AN EXCELLENT STARTING POINT.
In the meanwhile we Venezuelans can rejoice; Chavez has got Dodd and Carter 'convinced' of his benignity; Condi Rice and her "alter ego" know otherwise.
